Dozens on Dutch cruise ship fall ill

About 25 passengers on board the Dutch cruise ship Prinses Christina caught a virus and became ill during a trip on the Rijn. According to the Telegraaf, German doctors and emergency services boarded the cruise ship on Wednesday night in Boppard, in the German State of Rhineland. They determined that the infection is not life threatening and the ill passengers are stable. According to the German water police, there are about 100 people on board. The three deck cruise ship has a capacity of 107. The passengers are believed to have been infected by the norovirus, a spokesperson for the owner of the ship, Trans RIver Line, said today, AD reports. The norovirus is very contagious and has symptoms such as abdominal cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. According to a doctor who examined the passengers, this is a mild variant and should be out of their systems within 24 hours.
