Transavia testing in-flight virtual reality

Transavia airline recently began testing Oculus Rift glasses as a form of entertainment onboard its flights, even giving the chance to fly through the air to their destination in virtual reality. Last week, passengers on a flight from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to Barcelona were given the opportunity to test the virtual reality experience. The company offered a choice between three virtual reality demonstrations. The first demo was a film, while another featured a virtual tour of the cockpit. In addition to that, there was a virtual flight tracker, where passengers could get the experience of flying the route through the air hanging on a glider. The Dutch airline, owned by Air France - KLM, is hoping to offer a full virtual reality experience onboard within a year. By that time, a consumer version of the Oculus Rift glasses used for the experience should already be available. Transavia is not the first airline to experiment with virtual reality as part of its entertainment. Australia's Qantas added virtual reality on board of its flights a year earlier.
