Amsterdam murder victim's daughter also on hit list

The daughter of a woman mistakenly murdered in Amsterdam is now also on a gangland hit list, newspaper Parool reported on Wednesday. Beyhan Demirci's daughter was also warned of a possible impending attack on her own life, and towed her car to check for tampering, it was revealed during a court hearing of Mehmet D., the daughter's husband. Beyhan Demirci, 60, was shot dead while lounging on her balcony in Amsterdam Osdorp while smoking a cigarette. She was hit with Kalashnikov gunfire that came from street level on January 14. Police believe her son-in-law, underworld figure Mehmet D., was the intended target. He was arrested in February on a weapons possession charge that investigators think may have prevented a retaliatory strike from happening. A court remanded Mehmet D. and his co-arrestees into custody because of the volume of guns found in their possession, and the likelihood the suspects could cause more violence in the city.
