About 8.5 million filed income tax so far

A total of more than 8.5 million people submitted their tax returns before May 1st. According to the Rijksoverheid, this is more than the previous year. This year was the first year that tax returns could be done online via Mijn Belsatingdienst and the app Aangifte 2014. More than 190 thousand people used the app to do their tax returns. This was also the first year that the tax returns could be done in March and April, giving people an extra month to verify the information contained in the pre-completed tax return. "This year everyone could do their tax return online for the first time. That went well and it is a nice first step to make contact with the people easier." said Peter Veld, director General for the tax authorities. The processing of the tax returns are going so well that the tax authorities had enough room to give people 5 extra days to submit their returns. The final day to submit your tax returns is now May 5th.
