Eurojackpot lottery prize highest ever for Netherlands

The top prize of the Eurojackpot lottery is now at 75 million euros, which is the new record for the Netherlands, writes Telegraaf. Although the amount may still decrease, it is nearly twice as high as the Staatsloterij jackpot of 38.4 million that previously held the top spot. A Danish person was the Eurojackpot's most recent winner, taking the prize in February. A spokesman for the lottery told Telegraaf that if the amount is not won in the next week, players could expect a jump up to 90 million euros. Although 75 million is a large amount, it is not nearly the highest prize ever paid out in a European lottery. The largest prize was shared by 180 winning tickets sold in the small village, Grañén, Spain. Winners split the 720 million euro El Gordo in the 2011 Spanish Christmas Lottery. Eurojackpot is a lottery that is played in 16 European countries on a weekly basis.
