Dangerous cracks threaten Breda stadium safety

The NAC stadium in Breda may be unsafe due to cracks in the grandstand's concrete, De Telegraaf reports based on a report by engineering firm ABT. "The analysis shows that the observed large deformations of the grandstand-elements ... is worrisome," ABT writes in the report. A dangerous situation could appear if the stand is used by a crowd of people. ABT examined the stand at the request of the VVD and D66 in Breda after an earlier report on the stadium raised questions about its safety. The first report stated that normal use can not produce an unsafe situation, which is the opposite of what ABT has to say. Due to these different opinions the D66 and VVD demand that responsible alderman Bernie van den Berg take steps to ensure that the stadium is safe for visitors. These measures must be in place before NAC's home match against FC Dordrecht on Saturday.
