Mandatory home energy labels called into question

The opposition parties PVV and CDA want explanations from Minister Stef Blok (Housing) regarding the energy label that has been mandatory when selling a home since January 1st. This is in response to reports in De Telegraaf, which reported that many complained about the label and that there is a deliberate unfavorable assessment of houses that should induce people to insulate their homes better. According to PVV Parliament Member Sietse Fritsma, the fact that the label is deliberately unfavorable is "a form of deception. It chases residents simply on cost. Pure fraud." Fritsma calls the EU the source of all misery. "If you want the EU, you get this nonsense on your plate." According to him, Blok offered insufficient opposition against the compulsory introduction of the energy label in Brussels. The PVV wants the energy label removed. CDA Parliamentarian Sander de Rouwe has always been more in favor of a voluntary label. De Rouwe thinks that Blok should return to Brussels to debate on the label. An energy label can be a good way to understand a house, but it should not be mandatory, the CDA thinks.
