Conservatives stall university salary cap law

In addition to the housing associations and healthcare facilities, the postponement of the new law on top incomes will also apply to universities. This is according to a letter that PvdA Minister Jet Bussemaker of Education sent to the Second Chamber yesterday. Minister Bussemaker wrote to the Chamber that the reduction of top incomes on January 1st can not apply to university education. That is because of the interconnections between academic medical center with both university administrators and with healthcare. Bussemaker has in recent months already prepared the new maximum of a minister salary to other education sectors, including college, vocational and continuing education. Yesterday VVD ministers Stef Blok of Housing and Edith Schippers of Public Health stated that they have too little time to implement the reduction in top incomes for managers of housing corporations and healthcare managers. SP Parliamentarian Ronald van Raak stated yesterday that immediately after the Christmas recess there must be a debate with Prime Minister Mark Rutte regarding the ministers who will not apply the new top income law in the sectors they are responsible for.
