Sketch released in hunt for Colombian's killer

Police have released a sketch of a suspect in the murder Colombian national Dagoberto Gil Rodriguez. The fifth suspect in this case has been described as a tinted man, probably Maroccan, not older than 30, with high cheekbones, a pointy nose, thick lips and big, dark eyes. He was wearing jogging pants, a dark blue training jacket and dark sneakers. Rodriguez (58) was fished out of the waters at ‘t Oeverbos in Vlaardingen on October 10. He had been missing since August 2 and when his family made a formal report on August 28, police started an investigation. Forensic investigations have shown that he had been killed and his body dumped in the water afterward. A 38-year-old woman from Nieuwekerk and three men from Rotterdam –aged 25, 29 and 69- were arrested as suspects in late November. They are still in custody. In the TV program “Opsporing Verzocht”, in which police asks the public’s help during their investigations, it was reported earlier this week that Dagoberto Gil Rodriguez had gone to a house at Hoofdweg-Zuid in Nieuwerkerk aan den Ijssel, for a business meeting. The 38-year-old woman shares this house with other people. Dagoberto reportedly left, but returned shortly after because he had forgotten his phone. That is when he was shot and killed by an unknown man. The woman and the men first hid the body for a few days in a storage in Vlaardingen, after which they tied weights around it, hauled it into a rented van and drove it to Nieuwe Waterweg where they dumped it in the water. The owner of the van was later told by other renters that his truck smelled. It was the 38-year-old woman who took police to the spot where the body was dumped in the water. Police said that they suspected that Dagoberto was involved in criminal activities. He had no registered work, but had no shortage of money.

Police say more arrests are not unlikely.
