Controversial MP to remain in Parliament

Henk Krol will remain in the Second Chamber for 50Plus. His party colleague Martine Baay will not return due to illness. According to 50Plus, Baay's recovery is going well, but physicians have advised her not to go back to work full time. The 50Plus management regrets Baay's "inevitable" decision to resign. Krol said that the reason for his return is not pleasant, but he thinks it a great honor that he can remain in the Chamber. Krol replaced Baay as Parliament Member in September. He was in the Chamber previously, but stepped down after it became clear that as editor of the Gay Krant he did not pay pension contributions for its employees. There is also controversy about how government subsidies for gay rights had been used. The central management of 50Plus stressed today that it has not been proved that Krol misused the subsidy for the Friends of the Gay Krant. "This amount is not recoverable from him." Krol reiterated today that the subsidies were used correctly.
