Most Dutch have one password, 123456 most common

According to technology-site Tweakers, people often use website passwords that are not strong enough and use the same passwords for multiple sites. This can lead to problems, as these passwords are often used to protect confidential information. Tweakers have therefore taken it upon themselves to proclaim today the national Change Your Password Day. According to editor Wilbert de Vries, many people use weak passwords because they need so many of them. "To better remember all those passwords, people choose an easy to remember password that is often weak. The most commonly used password is still 123456." Many people also use their name or their pet as a password, which makes it easier to trace for hackers. Another danger is that many people use one password for different services. "About 33 percent according to our study", says De Vries. De Vries advises people to reconsider their passwords. The general rule applies that the shorter the password, the more unsafe it is.
