Cancel Sunday shopping restrictions quickly: D66
Opposition party D66 wants the Sunday law to disappear quickly.
D66 Parliament Member Schouw finds it strange that Minister Plasterk only recently announced an inquiry into the abolition of the law. The Second Chamber has long argued for completely removing the law.
The Sunday law is about respecting calm around religious events. This law, which dates from 1953, states that no events should be held before 13:00 p.m. on Sundays and no unnecessary noise should be made, among other things.
Last month Plasterk wrote to the Chamber that little is known about the operation of the Sunday law and that he would therefore first examine how the law works in practice and how it is experienced.
