EU: Dutch economy to miss growth expectation

According to Brussels, the Dutch economy will grow with 0.9 percent this year. That is less growth than the European Commission expected earlier this year. In the autumn forecast the Commission estimates the economic growth higher than the Dutch Central Planning Bureau (CPB), who estimated an increase of 0.75 earlier this year. In the spring Brussels still thought that the Dutch economy would grow by 1.2 percent this year. At the time prospects looked better for the world economy. Since then geopolitical tensions increased. The Commission thinks that the gross domestic product in the Netherlands will grow with 1.4 percent. The CPB was slightly more pessimistic by predicting a growth of 1.25 percent for next year with the Macro Economic Outlook on Prinsjesdag.
