No WWII bombs found at Wilhelmina Pier

Construction of of two residential towers at the Wilhemina Pier in Rotterdam has been resumed, after experts feared that two WWII bombs may be trapped underneath. Further research has been unable to detect any bombs.

In early September, experts warned of the existence of the bombs after examining a set of photographs released by the British Royal Air Force. The photographs, which revealed scenes of the 1941 air raid on Rotterdam, showed that while eight explosion took place, an additional eleven bombs were dropped. Construction of the two towers, dubbed the “Boston” and “Seattle”, was halted until experts made further investigations.

The construction of the towers will be resumed shorty after being delayed for four weeks, according to the municipality.
