Wilders pushing black-only Zwarte Piet law in latest stunt

PVV-leader Geert Wilders has spoken about his party's plans to construct a Zwarte Piet law which, if it passes, would oblige municipalities to make sure that Zwarte Piet is specifically black during public appearances, such as the Sinterklaas entry tour, the Algemeen Dagblad reports. The plan would also forbid municipalities from changing song lyrics, which has been a topic of the last weeks. Wilders explained his plan on Monday morning's episode of television show Vandaag de dag WNL. He argued for the plan that would safeguard Zwarte Piet as a black caricature in keeping with the tradition of the celebration as Dutch culture. "It's a children's celebration. This has nothing to do with racism", Wilders said.
