Missing Dutchman's car found in Spain
Police in Spain have found the first-ever trace of Dutchman Martin Verfondern who has been missing for more than four years.
Verfondern's car was found on Tuesday in a forest in the A Veiga parish in the province Galicia. The vehicle was partially burned and its number plates were missing.
The vehicle was found by chance during inspections against forest fires. Police say it the way it was dumped hints that it was not supposed to be found. "This is the perfect spot to make a car disappear. Hunters never go there," police say.
The area is now being combed further for possible DNA evidence.
Verfondern who was 51 when he disappeared, owned a bio-farm in Santoalla in Galicia. Since his disappearance on January 19 2010 his wife has insisted that crime was in play; Verfondern was having troubles with neighbors regarding land.
