PostNL to cut 1,500 service points

Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp wants to grant PostNL the permission needed to close 1,500 of the 2,500 company-run service points, according to newspaper De Stentor. The report suggests that people around the country would have to travel up to five kilometers in order to reach one of the service points. The move would be in addition to the planned removal of nearly half of all PostNL mailboxes countrywide. PostNL has planned the measures as part of an overall reorganization of the firm. The operation would be set in motion beginning in early 2015.
