Woman gambles €550k in healthcare funds

In Utrecht, Yvonne B. has played €557,000 on internet gambling sites, according to the Public Prosecution Authority. The woman is the creator of the foundation 'Vriended van Tom' (Friends of Tom), which is where she got the money that was meant for children with behavioral problems. The Department of Justice has done elaborate investigations into the woman's spending between 2008 and 2013.

On Tuesday, Yvonne B. appeared in court for the embezzling of €700,000 of her PGB-funds. In The Netherlands, this money is used by people with need of care, accompaniment or help, to buy the care they need themselves. She received the money from parents via the foundation for the care of problem children. B. does admit to having gambled before, but denies the height of the amount that she gambled, neither would she tell the judge who took the money off her account if it was not herself, according to Omroep Flevoland.
