Survivors to remember Koninginnedag '09 drama

Victims and survivors of the attack on Queen's Day 2009 in Apeldoorn will come together on the 30th of April at Het Loo Palace. At their request, a remembrance has been organized there. On that tragic Queen's Day, 28-year old Karst Tates drove his car straight through the barriers and came to a standstill against the monument De Naald. Eight people died because of his actions, including 46-year old Marij Pijnenburg from Moergestel. Eleven spectators of the royal convoy were injured.

The attacker may have wanted to attack the royal family, who was on its way to the palace in an open bus. It is unknown if the Royal House is also invited to the remembrance.
