A'dam taxi firm TCM loses license

The Amsterdam Taxi service, TCM, lost its permit after the City found they may be engaged in criminal activities. TCM is the first company to lose its license after a BIBOP inspection. The BIBOP law was introduced in 2003 and enables Cities, Provinces, and Ministers to perform background checks on entities who apply for permits or subsidies.

The City is subjecting all Amsterdam Taxi services to such an inspection. The almost 200 drivers were informed by the City and will have 4 weeks to join another Taxi service, since the inspection only applied to the management, stressed a spokesperson for the City. TCM, one of the largest Taxi services in Amsterdam, is appealing the decision and is considering actions. The company speaks of 'a personal vendetta.'
