Aldel buyer bails out

Roba Metals from IJsselstein withdrew as a candidate for the takeover of aluminum company Aldel, announced Aldel's curator, Henk Eshuis. The offer the company made was too low and had too many conditions attached. The last remaining option at this point seems the plea the Board of Directors makes for a power cable from Germany.

The company could not compete with German companies, due to higher electricity costs in the Netherlands. The option of a power cable from Germany is being investigated by Groningen Seaports and Aldel owner Gary Klesch. The foundry will remain open until February 28. By then it should be clear what fate awaits Aldel. If power from Germany can not be realized, the worst case scenario may be unavoidable. A few companies have already expressed interest in valuable parts in the factory. The factory would have to be dismantled and valuable parts will have to be sold off. 'That's not how we want this to end, but if things don't change in the course of this week, I don't think they ever will,' said Eshuis.
