Another earthquake in Groningen
Groningen experienced another earthquake on Wednesday night. According to the KNMI, it registered a 3.0 on the Richter scale, and happened at 3.13 a.m.
This earthquake is the biggest one of the last half year, RTV Noord reports. The biggest one of all time, in the area, happened on 16 August 2012, and measured in at 3.6 on the Richter scale.
Leernens, a town in the north-east of Groningen, was the epicenter of the quake.
Twitter was flooded by reports of the quake, ranging from various places in Groningen such as Uithuizen, Slochteren and Delfzijl.
Residents tweeted about banging doors, and items toppling over. No damage has yet been reported.
This is the latest in many earthquakes plaguing Groningen and its surroundings. The possible culprit is believed to be the natural gas drilling happening in the area.
