Exec. leaves NS for financial regulator
Merel van Vroonhoven has been appointed as chairman of the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). The appointment will become effective on April 1, AFM said in a statement. Van Vroonhoven succeeds Ronald Gerritse, who died in September last year. Van Vroonhoven has been appointed for a period of four years. The appointment of the new chairman was recommended by the AFM's supervisory board. She is a member of the executive board of the Dutch railway company NS. Prior to joining the NS in 2009, she worked in various positions at ING Group.
