Winter shelters prepare for homeless
Homeless people in the four major cities, Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, and Utrecht can turn to Community Health Services (GGD), starting Wednesday, for admittance to the Winter shelter.
It will be too cold to safely sleep outside, according to the GGD, prompting them to open up the winter shelters with extra beds for the first time this winter.
Homeless in need of a warm place to stay can report to the GGD, but are only allowed after a thorough screening.
Last years the winter shelters remained open for a total of 76 days, due to the wintercold arrangements, providing extra beds during extreme cold weather.
