Video: Dutch giant yellow duck bursts in Taiwan

A giant yellow duck, created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, exploded on Tuesday in Taiwan. The 18-metre-tall duck was being displayed at Keelung, a port city in the northeastern part of Taiwan. It burst around noon and deflated into a floating yellow disc, Channel News Asia reports. The giant inflatable duck was expected to attract a big crowd to count down the new year. It was the second time a giant duck had burst in Taiwan. "We want to apologise to the fans of the yellow rubber duck... the weather is fine today and we haven't found the cause of the problem. We will carefully examine the duck to determine the cause," organiser Huang Jing-tai told reporters. In 2013, three Taiwanese cities displayed their versions of the yellow duck, but they all were forced temporarily to suspend the show because of bad weather or damage.
