Honorary consul knew her attacker

The Dutch honorary consul Silvana Kondic knew the man who stabbed her, yesterday in her office in Split. He had threatened her before, said Kondic in an interview with the Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.The 72-year-old honorary consul states in the interview she has know the man, a Dutch from Croatian descent, for 20 years. A few years earlier he had also threatened her. He is a psychiatric patient and addicted to hard drugs. Flag_Croatia

Wikimedia commons He came by Kondic's office regularly, as he did yesterday. He asked for money, started beating her and stabbed her ten times. Kondic is in the hospital. The attacker has been apprehended. The man is known to the police and his actions are not related in any way to Dutch policy, states an informant from the Dutch embassy in Croatia.
