Student caught after computer crime
The Maastricht police apprehended an 18-year-old male for computer crimes. He reportedly spread viruses and made purchases, using other people's credit cards. He then sold the items on Marktplaats. 18,000 euros in cash was found in the young man's home.The police caught on to him during an investigation of fake announcements on the internet. Computer users would get a message on their screen, saying they had visited illegal websites and they had to pay a certain amount of money to avoid being prosecuted.
