Belgian man, 27, arrested after sudden group attack at Tilburg bachelor party
A 27-year-old man from Belgium was arrested Saturday night after a violent group attack during a bachelor party in Tilburg’s city center left another 27-year-old man unconscious with a broken jaw and a lost tooth, Omroep Brabant reported.
The assault happened around 11 p.m. at Pieter Vreedeplein, where the victim was walking with friends during a bachelor celebration. Police said he was attacked without warning as a group of men dressed in dark clothing approached after already moving loudly through the streets of Tilburg.
According to witnesses, the group suddenly turned on the partygoers. One man was struck hard in the face with a fist, causing him to lose consciousness temporarily. He sustained a broken jaw and lost a tooth. The victim's friend was also hit but suffered less serious injuries, police said. Emergency services transported the injured man to a hospital for treatment. Both victims later filed official reports with the police.
After the attack, the group walked away toward Spoorlaan. Police surveillance cameras later spotted them entering a parked bus, which appeared to be preparing to leave the area.
Officers intercepted the vehicle and stopped it before it could depart. Based on witness descriptions, police detained the 27-year-old suspect, a Belgian national. He remains in custody pending further investigation.
