Former Almere council member prosecuted in child abuse case; Youngest victim 2
A 66-year-old former municipal council member from Almere, Jan B., is facing prosecution for sexual abuse allegations involving multiple children, including a 2-year-old and a 13-year-old, prosecutors said. Authorities say he also produced and possessed child sexual abuse material involving a 3-year-old boy and an unnamed baby.
The incidents at the center of the case include the 2-year-old, who was indecently touched on his first day at a child care facility in Amsterdam, and a 13-year-old who was entrusted to Jan B.’s care in January 2024, NOS reports. Prosecutors said a total of 13 children have been identified in the investigation. In most cases, Jan B. took nude photographs of the children, though investigators said the images did not depict sexual acts.
Jan B. was arrested in November 2025, two days after the father of the toddler filed a police report. He worked as a substitute staff member at the De Kaap child care facility in Amsterdam-Oost, operated by Partou. Prosecutors allege he indecently touched two children at the facility but said there is no evidence he involved others or shared the material.
From 2022 until February 2025, Jan B. served as a municipal council member in Almere for 50PLUS. Earlier, from 2006 to 2010, he was a council member for the Socialistische Partij, according to sources familiar with the matter.
