Video: Two die in separate traffic incidents in Apeldoorn and Waddinxveen
Two separate traffic incidents in Apeldoorn and Waddinxveen have left two people dead, police said, with authorities investigating the circumstances of both cases.
In Apeldoorn, a person was killed early Saturday in a two-car crash on the Europaweg, police said. The collision happened at about 1:45 a.m. and involved two vehicles. One of the cars caught fire after the crash. The driver of that vehicle died. The driver of the other car was not injured.
In a separate incident in Waddinxveen, a 64-year-old pedestrian died Friday afternoon after being struck by a truck on the Nijverheidsweg, according to police.
The incident was reported at about 7:07 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2026. The man became trapped underneath the truck and died from his injuries. Police said they are initially treating the incident as an accident and are investigating how it happened.
