Snow forecast prompts Schiphol to cancel at least 150 flights Sunday
Schiphol Airport has canceled a large number of flights on Sunday as a preventive measure because of expected snowfall, with at least 150 flights already taken out of the schedule, according to KLM. The airport is still mindful of major snow-related disruptions that occurred just weeks ago.
A KLM spokesperson confirmed to news agency ANP that the cancellations involve both incoming and outgoing flights and were made in consultation with Schiphol. The spokesperson said it is not yet clear whether more flights will be canceled and could not say whether other airlines are taking similar measures.
The airline said the decision to cancel flights in advance is intended to prevent passengers from traveling to the airport unnecessarily.
Schiphol is expected to face snowfall during the second half of the afternoon and into the evening. Conditions could ease late in the evening or early in the night into Monday.
