Mobile data use in Netherlands surges to record 817 million GB

Mobile data usage in the Netherlands reached a new record in the third quarter of 2025, according to the Telecommonitor from the ACM.

Total mobile data consumption surged to 817 million gigabytes, an increase of nearly 14 percent from the second quarter, which had already seen a 16 percent rise.

The growth reflects a continuing trend as more Dutch consumers stream sports events and other live content on their phones. KPN and Odido remain the leading mobile providers in the country, ACM reported.

Fiber-optic networks also continue to expand. More than 8.7 million fiber connections have been installed nationwide, with just over 3.4 million households actively subscribing—a 1.5 percent increase, lower than the 2.7 percent growth recorded in the second quarter.

Fixed-line telephony continues to decline. Over 3.7 million households and businesses had a landline in the period, down from more than 3.8 million in the previous quarter, according to ACM.
