Medical specialist banned from working as doctor after sexual abuse of step daughter

A physician found guilty of sexually abusing his stepdaughter and recording child sex abuse videos has been permanently struck off the medical register. The disciplinary tribunal has ruled that he can never again work in the healthcare sector or be reinstated on the professional register.

The disciplinary tribunal ruled that the man’s actions undermined public trust in the medical profession. While the offenses occurred outside his professional duties, they were deemed wholly incompatible with his position in healthcare.

As an anesthesiologist, he placed patients under anesthesia, people who are, the tribunal noted, “vulnerable, defenseless, and entirely dependent.” Patients must be able to rely on the assurance “that anesthesiologists do not engage in sexual misconduct,” the judges emphasized.

The disciplinary tribunal did not reveal the hospital where the doctor had been employed. In November 2022, he received a two-year prison sentence, with six months conditionally suspended. His stepdaughter reported the abuse to police a year earlier. The offenses took place over a three-year period, from 2015 to 2018, beginning when the girl was under 12. The man had worked closely with her biological father.

The man was released from prison in May 2025. Since October 2020, the anesthesiologist has been receiving treatment from a psychiatrist. According to information provided to the health inspectorate on July 5, 2023, he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), experiencing flashbacks stemming from physical abuse and sexual abuse during his youth.
