Photo of femicide victim vandalized in Arnhem

A photo of Sanne Hertgers, featured in a traveling exhibition on femicide, was vandalized in Arnhem, her father, Wim Hertgers, said on LinkedIn. Sanne was killed in 2023 by her husband while the couple was in the midst of a divorce, Hart van Nederland reported.

“Why are there idiots who continue to hurt us even more? If they want to target us because we fight against femicide, they should come for me, but not my murdered daughter. Where is the respect?” Wim wrote. The board displaying her photo was allegedly likely defaced during the night of Thursday to Friday.

Wim Hertgers confirmed that a police report has been filed and that surveillance footage is being reviewed. “He or she better never appear near me. For anyone who can provide information on who did this, a substantial reward is offered,” he added.

On Saturday, Wim told Hart van Nederland that his LinkedIn post was written in the heat of emotion. He expressed a desire to speak directly with the person responsible for the vandalism.
