Suspect who killed three in random Rotterdam shootings also named in June 2024 stabbing

Sendric S., the suspect in three murders in IJsselmonde, Rotterdam, is now also being charged by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) with attempted manslaughter related to an incident that took place six months earlier. He is accused of trying to take a person’s life on June 12, 2024, in Rotterdam by stabbing the victim in the back, shoulder, or face. The new accusations are being added to his trial, his attorney Marco Bos has said.

S. confessed to fatally shooting three men during late December and early January in IJsselmonde. The first shooting occurred on December 21 when he shot a 63-year-old man who passed away several days later. A 58-year-old from Rotterdam was then shot a week later. He passed away the same night of the shooting. The third victim, an 81-year-old man, was shot during the daytime on January 2 and passed away sometime later. No reports have been made regarding the shooter’s motive.

The murders caused a great deal of unrest in IJsselmonde. Residents were advised not to go out on the streets on their own during the time of the murders. He was arrested on January 3.

The trial against S. will continue on Friday with a second preliminary hearing at the court of Rotterdam. S. will once again not be present during this hearing, Bos has said. His client will undergo evaluation at the mental health facility Pieter Baan Center in August, according to his lawyer.

Bos said that his client has been questioned about the attempted manslaughter accusation. The OM wants to discuss the new charge at the hearing, a spokesperson said.
