Suspect in the murder and mutilation of his mother in Landsmeer remains silent
Timothy B., the 32-year-old suspect in the murder of his 52-year-old mother in Landsmeer, is staying silent about the murder and the sawing off of the bottom parts of her legs. The parts of her body have not been found yet, it was said during the first public hearing in the case in Amsterdam.
The lifeless and mutilated body of the woman was found on January 9 in the closed-off bathroom of the home. “The suspect’s ex had found the victim’s bloody slippers and a gun in a garbage bag in the toilet,” the prosecutor said.
The victim was stabbed and had been shot in the head. There was also a spent bullet on the edge of the bath, and police found two more spent bullets in the living room.
Police found the suspect’s DNA on the bullet casings and the weapon. His DNA was also found on knives and a saw.
Two knives were found in the bathroom, one on the edge of the bath and one in the sink. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), a second firearm was found with ammunition in B.’s car. The suspect allegedly told a witness that he had “blasted” someone.
“This is about a victim who was murdered and mutilated by her own son in a brutal way. He took off a piece of her body, and looking at the case file, he wanted to chop up her whole body.” The prosecutor also reported that traces were found on the body, which seem to show that the suspect attempted to cut the lower back and neck.
According to the OM, the suspect used his phone to search for a hardware store and a place to fill a gas bottle up in Amsterdam-Noord on January 7. In December, he purchased a large roll of cling film from a wholesaler. A similar type of cling film was found in the bathroom where the body was found.
B. was on the waiting list at the Pieter Baan Centrum, a psychiatric observation clinic. B. continued to use his right to remain silent during the hearing. His lawyer said that B. would comment on the case soon. “He wants to, but he couldn’t. It takes time and discussions, but the statement will come,” said the attorney, who wants to set up a meeting with the police for this.
The next preliminary hearing is on July 15.
