Flights between Schiphol & German airports canceled on Monday due to labor strikes

A total of 76 flights between Germany and Schiphol Airport have been canceled for Monday due to strikes at multiple German airports, a Schiphol spokesperson confirmed.

Most of the canceled flights are operated by KLM and Lufthansa. The disruption began on Sunday when strikes at Hamburg Airport started earlier than expected, leading to the cancellation of all flights to and from the airport that day.

KLM has canceled 34 departing flights to Germany on Monday, according to an airline spokesperson. Despite the widespread cancellations, KLM will continue to operate flights to Düsseldorf, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart.

The German trade union Verdi called for the 24-hour strike on Friday, demanding higher wages for ground staff, security personnel, and other airport workers. The ongoing labor dispute involves a collective bargaining agreement covering more than 2.5 million employees in sectors such as education, government, and aviation.

In addition to Frankfurt, Germany’s largest airport and Lufthansa’s main hub, strikes are affecting operations at Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Weeze, Hanover, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin Brandenburg, and Leipzig/Halle.
