TU Eindhoven adjusts exam schedule following cyberattack
Students at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) affected by schedule changes caused by a recent cyberattack can reschedule their exams from the second quarter to the third or fourth quarter, the university announced Friday evening.
The university previously confirmed that all exams had been postponed by one week due to the digital attack. Students unable to attend the rescheduled exams can request a deferral to a later quarter if they present a valid reason, such as a planned vacation or participation in a major sporting event.
Patrick Groothuis, TU/e's vice chair, acknowledged the additional strain this adjustment places on faculty. “Part of the workload is being shifted, as students will not receive an extra opportunity but a new date for the same exam,” Groothuis said.
“This means there’s no additional grading time, but extra exams may need to be created. We are exploring ways to compensate faculty for this additional effort and will provide updates later,” Groothuis added.
The university is expected to release further details on Sunday regarding the resumption of classes on Monday.
