Dutch military to introduce body armor designed especially for women

The Dutch Ministry of Defense has announced the acquisition of 1,530 specially designed body armor vests tailored for women. The vests, intended for use in missions, are expected to improve comfort and protection for female service members.

“These vests are designed to provide a better fit for the female torso,” said a Defense spokesperson. “They are more comfortable to wear due to their shape and are slightly lighter than the current models.”

Currently, both male and female personnel in the Dutch armed forces use the same body armor. The new vests have been specifically developed to fit the female body more effectively, offering greater adjustability and a lighter, more ergonomic design.

The vests have already been in use by the special forces, where they received positive feedback from female personnel. Defense officials noted that the high satisfaction among women in these units prompted the decision to expand their use across the entire organization.

The first vests are expected to be distributed to women in the military starting this summer. Following this initial rollout, the Ministry of Defense plans to procure an additional 7,000 vests to ensure broader availability across all military ranks.
