Families forced after Hague explosion will get 6 more months of temporary housing

The 12 families that have been given a temporary residence as a result of the fatal explosions on the Tarwekamp apartments in The Hague will be given a home for at least another six months. A spokesperson of the home corporation Staedion confirmed this after initial reporting by Omroep West.

After the explosions in the Mariahoeve district last December, 15 families were initially taken in. Three of them have found shelter themselves. The remaining twelve were supposed to stay in their temporary homes until January 15, but that has now been extended by six months.

They are currently staying in guest houses owned by Staedion. These are houses that the housing associations offer to their tenants if, for example, a home needs to be renovated.

Eight families will continue to stay in Staedion’s guest houses after January 15. The other four will go to guest houses owned by Haag Wonen. It is not clear whether everybody will have to move, but all the temporary homes are in The Hague.

Six people lost their lives, and many more were injured during the explosion. Four suspects are currently detained because they may have caused the deadly explosions.
