Eredivisie topscorer Sem Steijn extends his contract at FC Twente until 2028
FC Twente has extended the contract of this season’s top scorer of the Eredivisie, Sem Steijn, to mid-2028. Their midfielder from the Czech Republic, Michel Sadilek, also signed a new contract until mid-2026.
“I came to FC Twente from ADO Den Haag two and a half years ago, and I have been able to develop myself tremendously. I enjoy every game I get to play for FC Twente. Together with everyone within FC Twente and our supporters, we are going to get the maximum results that we can get,” said the 23-year-old Steijn on the club’s website.
Steijn, whose father is the former Ajax and current Sparta Rotterdam manager Maurice Steijn, is the top scorer of the Eredivisie at the halfway stage with 12 goals.
Sadilek signed his contract to prevent him leaving Twente on a free transfer in the summer. “Michal has done a terrific job of working with the club until we have been able to agree a new contract. We appreciate this enormously. Michal is currently in his fourth season at FC Twente and has been one of the faces of the team since the start,” said the club’s Technical Director, Arnold Bruggink.
Twente has not had the most successful first six months of the season despite the tremendous form of Steijn. The team is currently sixth in the Eredivisie table and is yet to win in the UEFA Europa League after six games played.
