Train services reduced near Eindhoven due to track switch malfunction
Train services around Eindhoven were significantly reduced Sunday due to a malfunctioning track switch near Deurne, ProRail confirmed. The railway infrastructure company stated that repair work on the switch would be completed overnight from Sunday to Monday.
The Netherlands Railways (NS) adjusted its schedule and provided replacement bus services for affected routes. According to an NS spokesperson, fewer intercity trains were operating between Eindhoven and Venlo on Sunday. Additionally, sprinter trains from Den Bosch were terminating at Eindhoven and not continuing further south.
The disruption caused delays and required passengers to plan for longer travel times or alternative routes.
ProRail has assured that normal operations are expected to resume Monday morning following the overnight repairs.
