One arrest in Netherlands as German police bust international drug network
The German police busted an international drug network resulting in ten arrests, including one in the Netherlands. According to the German customs Zoll, this international group is involved in trafficking narcotics “in not insignificant quantities” and arms trafficking.
On Thursday, almost 400 German police officers raided 40 properties in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, in cooperation with the local police. They seized nearly 60 kilograms of narcotics, two cannabis plantations, over 350,000 euros in cash, weapons, ammunition, and 500 grams of explosives. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately 950,000 euros, the police said.
The German authorities launched this investigation in 2022. It linked the criminal group, which consists of around 25 people, to the trade of around 200 liters of amphetamine oil, 313 kilograms of cannabis, 61 kilograms of hashish, 20 kilograms of amphetamine, 7 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of ketamine, and 16,000 ecstasy tablets.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow. “The intensive investigations not only led to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the illegal activities but also to the comprehensive clarification of the modus operandi and the entire supply chain of the narcotics,” the police said. It also “exposed the recipients in Germany.”
