Police catch man suspected of sexually accosting women on the street in Zuid-Holland

The police arrested a 19-year-old man from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht on Thursday for molesting and harassing several women in his hometown and in Alblasserdam. The incidents span at least a week.

For example, on Saturday, the suspect followed a woman with a stroller from the Makado shopping center in Alblasserdam, the local newspaper Amblasserdams Nieuws reported. He kept walking in front of the stroller, blocking her path or walking too close behind her. When she eventually told him to get lost and called her husband for help, he groped her and ran away.

In another incident on Thursday, the suspect harassed a woman on Rossenburgpad in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht from a bicycle, the police said.

The police launched an investigation after receiving multiple reports with similar descriptions of the perpetrator. They identified the suspect on Thursday and arrested him. The police did not say how many incidents were involved.

“The investigation into the circumstances is still in full swing,” a police spokesperson told Albasserdams Nieuws. “All of this has had a major impact on the victims and their relatives. They are receiving victim support.”
