Barneveld bans locals linked to kidnapping from municipality for two weeks
Two men from Barneveld who are suspected of involvement with the abduction of a young child last Saturday are not allowed into the village of Barneveld for two weeks. This was reported by a municipality spokesperson.
A 53-year-old man from Amersfoort who is allegedly involved with the kidnapping will be remanded for the time being. The police are considering it a kidnapping, which reportedly happened in the evening hours from Friday leading to Saturday. The child was back with his parents sometime later, but nothing else is known regarding that.
It had been reported earlier that the two men, aged 54, are not allowed into Barneveld for the time being. The two-week term was not announced yet, but if anybody sees the men, they can be arrested.
A home on Columbusstraat in Barneveld that the police raided on Saturday in connection with the case will also remain closed for at least 14 days. An object was thrown through the windows of the home on Saturday evening leading into Sunday. "Because the home is a part of an apartment complex, it has been decided to close the house temporarily for the safety of the other residents," said Mayor Jacco van der Tak on Tuesday.
The Public Prosecution Service has said that the police are still looking for tips and video footage. "The appeal for witnesses has not yet led to any new useful information," said a spokesperson.
