Prosecutors recommend three years jail for babysitter who sexually abused a child

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is recommending a prison sentence of three years and mandatory treatment at a TBS psychiatric facility against Julian F. (25) from the municipality of Schagen for child abuse at one of the families that he was a babysitter for. F. is also accused of making child porn and bestiality.

F. shared images of the abuse of a one-year-old child that he was babysitting for with the 38-year-old Marco H. from Alkmaar, with who he exchanged sexual fantasies. The OM is recommending a jail sentence of 1,5 years and mandatory treatment at a TBS psychiatric facility for complicity in the abuse.

F. allegedly abused two young boys while babysitting for a family in the municipality of Hollands Kroon. Still, OM believes there is only evidence to support the case against the youngest boy. There is footage of it. The OM asked for an acquittal for the alleged abuse of the 4-year-old brother, as well as for the mistreatment of F's nephew.

Prosecutors quoted explicit chat conversations that were had between H. and F. about the abuse. The victim's mother left the court temporarily during this.

The suspect was exposed last year during a police interrogation about the theft of footballs from his neighbor's boy. Neighbors took camera footage of F. during the robberies in their garden. During the hearing about this, the police searched his mobile phone. It turned out to contain a large amount of child pornography and videos of the child.

A search of F. s house showed that he had over 28,165 child porn photos and videos. H. had 24,684 child porn photos in his possession.

It was also revealed in the investigation that F. had 250 contacts in his phone under the name farmer and 300 with the names dog, horse, and pig. The OM is prosecuting F. for sex with two animals, which he also filmed. This was with a pig in Overijssel and a dog in Zegveld, Utrecht.

The public prosecutor said in her argument that F. acted calculatingly and showed no insight into the seriousness of his behavior. She quoted the owner of the abused pig: "That man has a twist in his head."

In his final words, F. said that he was open to treatment. H. said in his closing speech that he regrets his actions and should have made different decisions when contacting the babysitter.

The court will announce its decision on July 19 in Haarlem.
