Dutch football association blocks 200 resold tickets for upcoming Oranje friendlies

Dutch football association KNVB has blocked 200 tickets for the two upcoming friendly matches against Iceland and Canada. These tickets were sold via unofficial channels for sums of money that were much higher than the original price. Most of the tickets were sold on resale platform Viagogo. The KNVB also said that more tickets could be blocked for the two fixtures.

The matches will take place in Rotterdam, pitting Oranje against Canada on Thursday and Iceland on Monday. They are the last two matches before the European Championships in Germany this summer.

When purchasing a ticket, every buyer agrees to the KNVB's terms and conditions. One condition is that tickets can only be sold to close acquaintances, specifically family, friends, colleagues, for the original purchasing price.

Offering tickets via other channels, such as social media platforms and websites like Marktplaats or Viagogo, is prohibited. The tickets can then be blocked, and the original seller can be given an 18-month stadium ban and a 450 euro fine.

"People who bought tickets from an unofficial channel and have not received them should contact the organization they bought them from. The money you paid for the blocked tickets should always be refunded by the company you bought them from," the KNVB added.

It is not the first time that the KNVB has blocked tickets for a match. This also happened during the European Championship qualifier matches against France and Ireland in October and November. This concerned around 450 and 300 tickets, respectively.
