Marktplaats deletes advertisements offering National Remembrance Day tickets for a price

Marktplaats, an online marketplace, has deleted many advertisements offering free tickets for the National Remembrance Day on the Dam Square on May 4 for a price. A spokesperson for the company confirmed this after a report from the AD.

“We have been made aware of several advertisements in which tickets for the National Remembrance Day are being offered on our platform,” Marktplaats added. “In the context of the security considerations underlying the mandatory use of tickets for the National Remembrance Day on Dam Square, we do not allow the (re)sale of these tickets on our platform. We will, therefore, remove such advertisements as quickly as possible.”

The spokesperson would not say how many free reservations were offered and for which price.

There were 11 people looking for tickets for the National Remembrance Day on TicketSwap on Thursday. However, no tickets were being offered or sold on the platform, and TicketSwap has now taken the event’s page offline.

Due to the possibility of spontaneous protests or disruptions, a maximum of 10,000 people will be allowed on Dam Square on May 4, while usually 20,000 are permitted.

It was announced on Tuesday morning that people who want to attend the memorial must reserve a time slot. All possible time slots had been reserved just before 7:30 p.m.
