Nine people with Dutch ties leave Gaza Strip

Nine people with links to the Netherlands who were in the Gaza Strip arrived in Egypt via the Rafah border on Monday. They were met by representatives of Belgium and taken to the Egyptian capital of Cairo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Dutch embassy will assist the group and accompany them to the Netherlands. For “privacy reasons,” the Ministry would not say how the return journey will happen.

The Ministry is in contact with 16 more people in Gaza. This concerns people with Dutch nationality, residence status, or immediate family. “We hope and make every effort to ensure that they, too, can leave Gaza as quickly as possible. We will communicate about this once people have safely left the area,” the Ministry said.
