Thrift store employee finds hand grenade in box
A hand grenade was found in thrift store RataPlan on Van Slingelandtstraat in Amsterdam on Tuesday. The grenade was found in a box that was being unpacked by an employee. It is unclear how long the box had been in the store, Het Parool reports.
The police safely removed the explosive. According to the police, it was a real hand grenade, but it was harmless as it could no longer detonate. People living and working around the store were therefore not in danger.
The police closed down the area around the thrift store as a precaution while they investigated.
